This blog was set up mainly to improve my writing ability. You could say I’m quite opinionated and I find forcing these opinions on other people quite therapeutic. The man behind the madness was born in Rochford (in Southend…in Essex…in the UK). I was born in the same era that gave us He-Man, Ghostbusters and Indiana Jones. Unfortunately, what the 80’s gave us in iconic entertainment we paid for in fashion. Luckily for me any fashion faux pas I made were my mother’s fault.
Developer
By day I work as a Software Engineer and by night I spend my time engineering software. You see I’ve always enjoyed creating something new. Unfortunately I’m a cross between Frank Spencer and Norman Wisdom when it comes to making anything practical. This leaves coding! Programming allows me to build things from scratch, solve problems and learn new skills. I know how fortunate I am to be doing something professionally that I love doing anyway.
Supporter
My other big passion is Southend United. Since I’ve been 13 I’ve been hooked to the Shrimpers. I enjoyed their meteoric rise from league 2 to the Championship…and their subsequent free fall back to where they started. Some people wonder why we support such a shit team but I would argue it’s more entertaining than supporting Manchester United from your living room. My Southend highlight has to be when we won league 1. Not only was it our best trophy to date but it was an emotional farewell to Shaun Goater. An absolute legend in the game!
Music
I’m very into my music. Enthusiasm can go a long way but unfortunately cannot make up for a severe lack of talent. That said, I’m happy I gave it a go and will occasionally pick up the acoustic guitar and murder any song I can get my hands on. This could include anything from Alison Krauss to the Zutons.
