My Top 10 Movies

1. The Matrix

No contest really. Film is an emotive medium and never have I experienced anything truer than when I left the cinema after The Matrix. My adrenaline pumping and my shear amazement at the special effects I’d just witnessed. I never did sign up for drunken boxing though!

2. Ghostbusters

Bill Murray is one of my favourite comedy actors. This is (in my opinion) his finest work. I watched this film as a kid and found it scary, as an adult I found it hilarious. “I make it a rule never to get involved with possessed people. [passionate kissing] Actually, it’s more of a guideline than a rule.”

3. Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade

A childhood favourite of mine. I know people will argue that the others may be better but for me Sean Connery makes this movie special. I loved the father/son relationship which is very believable. A fantastic adventure film which I’m looking forward to watching with Joshua.

4. Shawshank Redemption

This is an incredible film which seems to get better every time I watch it. It’s the best bro-mance flick out there and I would argue that justice has never been delivered in quite so much style as this.

5. The Exorcist

I don’t scare too easily but this film did it. Although some of the effects haven’t stood the test of time, the idea in itself is terrifying. Little girls are scary FACT! Let alone if their heads are spinning and they’re puking pea soup.

6. Dumb and Dumber

Not the classiest of films but brilliant never the less. Jim Carey isn’t given the credit he deserves. Give him a loose idea and let him run with it. This is my favourite Jim Carey film although Ace Venturer is close. This film was once watched, rewound (VHS days) and watched again.

7. Back to the Future

Such a brilliant film. I’m sure it’s in your top 10. It’s fun, intense and very funny. Another film that I loved as a kid and even now enjoy watching.

8. Inception

This reminded me of the first time I watched The Matrix. Some of the shots seem revolutionary. The story is so original and the intensity is set to max from the very start. I’ve only seen it once but I have a feeling this will be a favourite for some time.

9. Airplane

This film IS my sense of humour. Silly in the extreme. The incessant jokes mean you can watch it over and over and see something new each time.

10. Superman 3

Richard Prior and Superman, need I go on! I remember recreating this film in my superman outfit as a young lad. Watching it recently you realise how funny Richard Prior is. The bit where Vera gets pulled back into the super computer is still really eery.
